An alien world that emerges from the sea

The only way is forward up the shore
Shell and bone crunch under foot with oozing core
Never felt such eternal silence
Apothic gloom of nature's violence
But this can not surely be real
I keep pinching myself to no avail

In awe, the ancients carved thee

Stumbling upon ancient prolific stones
Carved with horrors that the modern world have never known
A giant aquatic beast
Not even whales are exempt from the feast
